About us

Credo means "I believe" in latin. Believing is an important part of our identity because it is how everything started. We believe that there is a living God and that nothing is impossible for Him. The greatest miracle He did, is that He made it possible for humans to know Him and to be reconciled to Him. We started Credo in 2017 as a leap of faith, because we have committed ourselves to this believe

History:

Credo Church was founded in January of 2018 and began as a mobilized startup community of 60 people. The vision was to train these people to become a sending church, meaning, the aim was to send out disciple-makers and urban missionaries. These people would be deployed in strategic locations or relational networks, to make disciples of the unreached and unchurched people of Amsterdam. Credo Church is a multi-ethnic, western cultured church in Amsterdam Noord.

Credo was intended and still operates from the Northern boroughs of Amsterdam, where the church focuses its attention. The area’s approximate population is ~90.000 people, and there are only a few Christian churches that work as active witnesses to these people.

The population of Amsterdam Noord is thought to increase significantly in the coming years. This is due to the redevelopment of large industrial areas into residential areas. With that being said, it is imperative that this area is strengthened with churches that have a passion for the mission of God and His Kingdom.

Beliefs

GOD- God is 3-in-1, there is only one God in three persons -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God- the Father
He is the creator and sustainer of all things, and He created the universe in love and created man in His own image to be loved and called man back to Himself through Christ after the rebellion and fall of man. He is supremely holy, always and only ever good. He is love.
Genesis 1, Numbers 23:19, Psalm 119:68, John 3:16-17, 1 John 4:8

Jesus - the Son
He is God in the flesh. Jesus was born of a virgin and lived a sinless human life as both man and God. He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days in the flesh to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again.
Isaiah 7:14, Luke 1:31-35, John 1, Colossians 1:15-20, Titus 2:14

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God; the third part of the Trinity. He was active in the Old Testament and given to the Church in fullness at Pentecost. He assures us of our salvation, guides us into all truth, glorifies Jesus and convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He cleanses man from the old nature and conforms us to the image of Christ. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and empowers us for service.  The baptism in the Holy Spirit, subsequent to conversion, releases the fullness of the Spirit and is evidenced by the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1:2, Acts 1:8/2:1-18, Ephesians 1:13-14, John 14:16-17/16:7-13, Romans 8, Galatians 5:16-26, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11

BIBLE- The Bible is God's Word, it is one true book with many writers but only one author.

The Holy Bible
We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Words of God as written by human writers, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs about living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any error.  Its authority is ultimate, final, and eternal. It cannot be added to, subtracted from, or superseded in any regard. The Bible is the source of all doctrine, instruction, correction, and reproof. It contains all that is needed for guidance in godliness and practical Christian conduct and is completely relevant to our daily lives.
Deuteronomy 4:2, Psalms 12:6/119:160, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21

Salvation- Salvation is free for all it is a gift of grace through faith

Jesus saves us from certain death
We believe in Heaven (prepared for God and the righteous) and Hell (prepared for the devil and his angels) and when a person's physical body dies their soul will spend eternity in one of those two places. There is only one way to heaven and back to the Father (God) and that is through Jesus. He died as the sacrifice for our sins which separate us from God and it is by faith in him alone that we are saved. We cannot earn it by good deeds. We must acknowledge and confess our sin and believe that Jesus is whom he says he is and he did what he says he did. We must be born again.
Matthew 25:34/41/46, John 3:5-6/15-18/14:6, Romans 6:23/10:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-9

Core Values:

Community
We believe God has called us to be a part of the body of Christ. Being connected and committed to His body, valuing relationships and playing an active role within this community.

Hospitality
Hospitality is not simply a ministry but an atmosphere. Everyone should feel welcome and accepted. Our hospitality is the way we show love, care, concern and servanthood!

Character Development
Discipleship and equipping people to discover their destiny. Teaching perseverance and integrity, that which develops proven character. Our aim is to train admirably purposeful, determined and unwavering people who, throughout their lives and callings, will see the miracles of God.

Kingdom-Minded
We desire to strengthen the spiritual eyes and ears of everyone, in order to better recognize the ways God wants to use them in their daily lives. We want to give the opportunities to interact with the culture around us, to be men and women of influence in our society, so that we can better understand the heart of God for those around us and throughout the world.

9 DNA Points:

Family
The church is more than a religious institution, it’s a loving and caring family. Everybody is welcome the way they are. The church is a place for multiple generations. It’s very important that everybody has a place in church.

Togetherness
Keep going forward together. God is a God of relationships (Father - Son - Holy Spirit ). We’re better together, and being together is always better than being alone. We believe in families, teams and friendship.

Positivity & Generosity
We consider the glass half full because of our positivity. We look at the positive things in live and exhibit a posture of gratitude because He is our hope and salvation. We are generous with encouraging one another and lifting each other up in affirmation, because God, our father, is generous and has given us everything.

Excellence
We strive for excellence. Everything we do and give is nothing but the best for God and people.

Authenticity
No one is perfect, so come as you are. An authentic person is someone who is real, so we should live in this. God created us in His image and purposed us with unique design, we should reflect the fullness of who we are because of who He is. Be real!

Respect
We promote a culture of respect for each other, regardless of your background, opinion or deeds. Don’t just pay attention to what is good for yourself but also what is good for others. We respect you for who you are.

Passion
Passion for people and the church. This passion is shown in worshipping God. It motivates to serve others and propels us in our projects. When passion is part of our DNA, nothing is impossible. Present your ideas and pray about them. Build the church on passion.

Multiplication
We want to multiply so that the church will become an epidemic of love. Every year, we pray that every christian will lead one person to Christ. 1 + 1 in everything.

Boldness
We believe that God is active and that we live with His supernatural strength. That’s why we testify our faith, to make His reality visible in our environment. Be bold in praying for each other and sharing Jesus.

Ministries:

Worship: “The worship team’s primary goal is to exalt Jesus above every other name and to let Him glorify the Father. How we do that is by leading the congregation into a worship experience: a special and personal encounter with God.”

Life groups: We believe God designed people to live in community. Therefore, life groups are here to build and develop relationships. We are encouraged to love one another and grow deeper in our love for God. In a life group you can expect to make friends to share life with and experience transformation in your own walk with Christ

Hospitality: Hospitality exists as a ministry to host the presence of the lord and his church. We love and enjoy creating a place for God to dwell and we want everyone that comes in Credo to feel loved, precious, and seen.

Prayer: The world is a battlefield and the heart of the Father is longing for people who will fight as soldiers in his army against the present darkness. Does your heart ache to see humanity restored? In prayer ministry we come together to see things changed in communion with the God who works miracles.

Translation: At Credo we want for everyone to participate instead of spectate. In order to enable you to do this we make an effort to offer what we do in the languages that are natural for you so you can grow deeper in your walk with God with a little more ease.

Young adults: Credo Young Adults ministry is the place to find and build community. Life is better together, so our goal is to build Christ-centered friendships that last for a lifetime.

Cafe: The goal of Credo Café is not only to have a place to socialize after church but moreover to reach the people from the neighborhood. We want to be a community center for those who need us, a place where they feel safe and can come whenever they are in a time of need.

Teens: In Credo Teens we aim to create a welcoming place where they can discover who they are in Christ and the purpose he has for them, all while learning to build community in relationships but also by serving.

Women: We are a community of women who care about each other and want to invest in a Godly lifestyle and their relationship with God by discovering and applying biblical principles together.

Couples: Family was God’s idea. We believe the anchor to a strong family is a strong marriage, with God at the center. Credo Couples seeks to strengthen marriages by establishing them in healing, wholeness, and community. You can expect to have a refreshing time together and to grow in intimacy with God and your spouse.
